Super Strike Charters Gulf Coast Fishing Report: Yellowfin Tuna

Yellowfin Tuna Fishing going crazy.

This August has had some ups and downs. The ups were that the fishing is outstanding and only seems to be getting better as we move into September. The downside was a few weather days in early August that kept us at the dock.

So far 2016 has been an incredible Yellowfin Tuna year for Gulf Coast fishing.

We have had some very long stretches of great fishing, there are simply a lot of fish here right now.  Yesterday, 8/21/16 Capt. Willy had the Angel Fletcher crew from La. and they had their limit of Yellowfin by 10:30 a.m.   Capt Ronald was right there in the mix. They caught six and the crew called it a day. Capt. Scott went in a different direction and caught 3 YF and a limit of Red Snapper.

The fishing right now couldn’t be better.  The gulf has been flat calm most days and most importantly we have a lot of fish to fish for.  Along with the Tuna this time of year we are targeting Swordfish as well. The Sword fishing in the Norther GOM is hard to beat. Cobia are also abundant this time of year. We are catching them using jigs and live bait around some of the shallow water structures.

As we move into September we will mainly be targeting Yellowfin tuna and there will be a mix of Blackfin tuna as well.

We are usually very busy in Sept. and Oct. so if your looking to get in on the offshore fishing out of Venice, La. do not wait up until the last minute to book as we do fill quickly.  If you have any questions about our trips, boats, lodging, etc., just give  us a call at 985 960 1900.
