Gulf Coast Fishing: Super Strike Charters Venice, LA, Report

The offshore Yellow fin Tuna fishing and inshore fishing in Venice, LA, is hard to beat during this time of the year.

The weather is usually very comfortable with highs in the mid-to-upper 70’s and lows in the mid-60’s. So for those of you who enjoy fishing but do not like the heat that the middle of summer brings, then this is the time of year to be out on the water.

Spring is an excellent time for both Yellow fin Tuna fishing and Black fin tuna.

Most of the Yellow fin avg. in size from 40-80lbs., we are catching them on chum, top-water baits, live-bait, and trolling.  Some days there are a few Wahoo mixed in and as we move later in April and May, Mahi-Mahi will be showing up as well.  Around the rigs Amberjack, Cobia, and Mangrove snapper are the main targets.

The inshore fishing for Bull Reds, Slot reds, and Speckled trout is as good as it gets.  This time of year is when we catch the bigger trout, last year our largest came in May at 8lbs.  Most avg. 2-4lbs during the spring.  Redfish are on just about every point or ditch when the tide is moving good.  Trout are mainly caught on artificial this time of the year, but live-shrimp is available for days when they are a bit more finicky.  Redfish bait of choice of dead-shrimp under a cork.

Gulf Coast Fishing is good right now, lots of choices and good variety in catches.
