Inshore Fishing Species in Venice, LA

  • Redfish: October is peak season for bull reds. Massive schools of giant redfish push into passes, surf zones, and shallow bays, while slot-sized reds populate the marshes. As the water cools, redfish become more aggressive, making October inshore fishing the perfect time for drag-screaming fights and unforgettable trophy photos on your Louisiana fishing charter.

  • Speckled Trout: Cooler water triggers a fall feeding frenzy for speckled trout. Trout gather around points, bayou mouths, and current-swept cuts, while some remain in shallow marsh ponds. This pattern makes inshore fishing trips in Venice, LA, highly productive during October.

  • Flounder: The annual fall migration for flounder starts in October in Venice, Louisiana. Anglers on fishing charters find flounder along flats, creeks, and channel edges, where they ambush baitfish moving out of the marsh.

  • Sheepshead: Sheepshead fishing remains reliable around docks, oyster beds, and shoreline structures in Venice, LA, offering consistent inshore fishing action.

  • Tripletail: Reports indicate Tripletail are appearing more often in nearshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico, adding variety to October fishing trips with Super Strike Charters.

Offshore Fishing Species in the Gulf of Mexico

  • Yellowfin Tuna: October fishing means big tuna season in Venice, Louisiana. Trophy-class Yellowfin Tuna (150–200 lbs.) gather near deepwater rigs, floaters, and shrimp boats in the Gulf of Mexico, providing explosive offshore fishing action. Blackfin Tuna are also abundant, keeping rods bent all day on our Louisiana fishing charters.

  • Wahoo: Cooler waters signal the start of wahoo season in the Gulf of Mexico. These lightning-fast predators are a favorite among thrill-seekers during October offshore fishing in Venice, LA.

  • Mahi-Mahi: While numbers taper off from summer, mahi-mahi remain near floating debris, weedlines, and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.

  • Amberjack: Open Sept. 1–Oct. 31, Amberjack stack up on oil rigs and wrecks in the Gulf of Mexico, providing non-stop offshore fishing action for Louisiana fishing charters.

  • Grouper: Grouper and other reef species remain active around ledges and structures in the Gulf of Mexico, offering a diverse catch for offshore anglers on fishing charters.
